If you choose a generalist tourism content marketing agency, you’re going to get this…

A purple chalk arrow leading to a square bracket; following the bracket, text reveals the problem of not using quality website copywriting services.
  • Lack of demographic research or awareness. There’s gold in those potential visitors – but only if you talk to the right target audiences.
  • Cliched copy that does nothing to bring your beautiful destination to life. Your (bored) audience has seen all these words and observations before.
  • Little storytelling, lots of lists. The "Top 10 Things To Do In..." formula doesn't build loyalty, doesn't build brand and doesn't make anyone feel anything.
  • No understanding of the business angle. This is about more than pretty views – it’s the livelihoods of restaurant owners, hoteliers, destinations and more.
You may be a town of culture or have a castle in the sea – but all of that’s just incidental scenery unless your tourism marketing agency uses research, industry insights and fresh perspectives to draw in your target audience.

Penzance BID

Love Penzance inward-bound tourism website for Penzance BID: creating a content strategy, and writing website content and monthly blog articles and social posts encouraging day trips and overnight stays to Penzance. Results: since our work began, our services have helped more than double visits to the website to 8k p/m and have been widely liked and shared by social media followers, growing reach. As part of the campaign, Coast has positioned Penzance as a ‘truly Cornish’ and characterful alternative to oversaturated destinations. Not only is the website prospering, the town’s tourist profile is blossoming across the national press. Find out more.

Visit England

VisitEngland and the AA, B2B tourism magazine: revitalising a tourism best practice magazine, aimed at hotel and B&B owners, restaurants and attractions. We introduced many different feature formats, including long-form interviews, Q&As, web-style ‘7 ways’ tips and more. We conceived feature ideas, wrote and commissioned features, edited all work for quality and delivered a superior finished product to the client. The relaunched magazine was a huge success with the audience. 84% of readers liked the magazine and 87% said it contained useful information (compared to 65% previously). Find out more.

Coast has been commissioned to write features for many national and regional magazines including an interview with the Fisherman’s Friends choral group for Beautiful Britain magazine, a cover feature on India for Real Travel Magazine, a feature on Ibiza for the Western Morning News, and numerous stories for Cornwall Today magazine on the Falmouth Maritime Museum, the National Cycle Network, and many, many more subjects. We also wrote a wide range of blog articles highlighting Cornwall’s unique culture for Cornwall Council’s inward investment campaign.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, as well as delivering overall strategy and content, we work with several tried-and-tested parters to deliver the full marketing package. At all times, we will be your point of contact, to ensure you get a complete service from one accountable provider.
Absolutely. If you ask for our help, we will research your market, look for opportunities to make an impact, design your website content for maximum impact in search and plan a blog and social calendar that hits all the sweet spots in terms of meeting visitors’ needs and enquiries. We’ll also undertake a full analysis of your destination or business’ unique selling points and roll these out consistently to create a powerful, coherent message.
Content marketing is a long game. SEO-driven destination blogs typically take three to six months to gain traction in search rankings, but the cumulative effect compounds over time. Social content and PR-style features can drive faster spikes. A tourism marketing agency worth hiring will be honest about this timeline rather than promising overnight results – and will build a content plan that balances quick wins with long-term organic growth.
The more context you give a travel marketing agency upfront, the better the output. We typically need access to your brand guidelines, any existing content or analytics data, clarity on your target visitor demographic, and a sense of which competitors or destinations you admire. A decent briefing call often surfaces insights that reshape the entire campaign approach — things no brief document captures.
Vanity metrics – likes, impressions – tell you very little. We track organic search growth, time-on-page, referral traffic from content and, where possible, direct conversion signals like enquiry forms or booking link clicks. For the Love Penzance campaign, monthly website visits more than doubled. Numbers like that give you something concrete to take back to stakeholders and funding bodies.
Not at all. Our clients have included national organisations, cross-country transport operators and international travel titles. Geography is irrelevant when your whole offer is words, strategy and ideas – all of which travel well. We work remotely with clients across the UK and have produced destination content for locations we've researched thoroughly without always visiting in person, though we prefer to when budgets allow.
Yes – and it's a question more clients should ask. Many tourism marketing budgets get swallowed by paid advertising with little residual value. Content – good editorial, well-optimised pages, authoritative destination features – keeps working after the budget stops. We can help you build a business case using benchmarks from our own campaigns and wider industry data that demonstrates content's long-term ROI versus short-term ad spend.
A freelancer gives you one perspective and one skillset. A specialist travel and tourism marketing agency brings strategic oversight alongside the execution – understanding how a blog post fits a wider SEO strategy, how a social caption connects to a campaign narrative, how a press angle becomes a national feature. The difference is joined-up thinking, not just task completion.
Yes – this is a growing part of what we offer. We work with drone footage, location photography and video production to complement written destination marketing campaigns. For tourism clients especially, still and moving imagery shot with genuine editorial instinct – not stock library filler – makes a significant difference to how a destination is perceived online and in print.
